Caltrain introduces new fare options and 50% off all parking fees starting September thru December
(SAN FRANCISCO) Caltrain announced a promotional fare discount program starting September 1 to December 31 this year to help the riders to save money. The promotions include $1 youth rides and 50% off all parking fee at all stations.
According to Caltrain, its ridership continues to increase since the pandemic with average ridership at approximately 20,000 per weekday.
Fares are expected to increase later this year. Caltrain introduced a promotional fare discount program to keep fares at their current levels until December 31, 2023 and encourage riders to travel on Caltrain in a group to save more money.
Four fare options were introduced during the promotions, $1 Youth Pass, 3-Day Pass, Family Day Pass, and Group Day Pass.
The $1 Youth Pass provides a one-way ride for a dollar for everyone age 18 and under. The youth pass is good for travel through all zones for a dollar and offered only on Clipper Youth Cards.
The 3-Day Pass offers the pass holders to take unlimited rides for three consecutive days after the pass is purchased. "It is a great option for the hybrid commuter working three days during the week," said Caltrain.
The Family Day Pass allows two adults and up to four youths (18 and under) to ride together for the cost of two adults and one youth. All Family Day Pass travellers must ride together in the same train car. The tickets are offered on the Caltrain Mobile app and stations' ticket vending machines.
The Group Day Pass offers a group of four to six people to travel together for 15% off the cost of four tickets. All Group Day Pass travelers must travel together in the same train car. The tickets are also available on the Caltrain Mobile app and ticket vending machines at all stations.
From September 1 to December 31, 2023, parking is 50% off at all Caltrain stations. After the discount, 24-hour daily parking at all Caltrain stations will be $2.75. Monthly parking permits will be $41.25 with the discounts.
