(SAN FRANCISCO) California Treasurer Fiona Ma announced on July 23 the creation of the San Francisco Farm Bureau to promote urban agriculture.

  • (SAN FRANCISCO) New members of the California Senate and Assembly formed the 2023 State Legislature and were sworn into office on Dec. 5. Under the new legislature, Asian American state legislators accounted for 14 seats with three newly-elected Asian women members. Chinese American state legislators were down from 8 to 6 in two years.

  • (SAN FRANCISCO) The increasing costs of water have made people become behind on their water and utilities payments. California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced on October 26 that his office issued a legal alert reminding statewide water providers to follow SB 998, the Water Shutoff Protection Act, to protect tenants and homeowners facing termination of water services.

  • (SAN FRANCISCO) Governor Gavin Newsom signed three state holiday bills into law before the deadline of this legislative year. Those three new California state holidays starting 2023 are Lunar New Year, Juneteenth, and Genocide Remembrance Day.
