Chinese musician and singer Chen Jia performs live and gains more fans in San Francisco Bay Area


(SAN JOSE) Chen Jia, a musician and singer from China, performed at a San Jose concert on August 6 to celebrate the upcoming Moon Festival with the Chinese community in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Her performance touched many of the audiences in the concert and gained a new group of fans from the Bay Area.
Chen has been famed for singing the popular songs of late superstar Teresa Teng who passed away decades ago.

The San Jose concert was the first stop of Chen's concert tour in the United States in August 2023. The concert was held in San Jose's California Theater. Southern California would be the next stop and followed by New York.
Chen was also one of the very first singers from Asia to perform live in concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area since the pandemic starting in 2020.
Chen was born in Beijing. She began to study piano and received her classical music education at age 3. She was a member of the Children and Young Women's Chorus of the China National Symphony and travelled across the globe with performances at a young age.

In college, Chen majored in Finance and earned her Bachelor degree at the University of International Business and Economics in China. She also travelled aboard to study and received her Master degree at the University of Hamburg in Germany. She speaks multiple languages including Cantonese, Japanese, English and German in addition to her native language Mandarin.
Chen served in the finance industry prior to becoming a professional musician and singer. When she was young, she enjoyed and sang Teresa Tang's songs. Her online voice clip was seen by Teng’s brother who invited Chen to join the Teresa Teng Foundation in 2012. Then Chen also began her journey working full time in music.
During the past decade, Chen has performed in more than 20 countries added to her home country China, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Japan.
