Portsmouth Square Garage unveils new signage to welcome visitors to San Francisco Chinatown

(SAN FRANCISCO) New signage with both side welcoming messages was unveiled in front of the Portsmouth Square Garage main entrance in Chinatown on June 28. Its Board of Directors also announced that the garage's Community Engagement Fund would be named after retiring board member Nancy Lim.
"Welcome to San Francisco Chinatown" is the message in the front signage with a modern Chinese painting of the Golden Gate Bridge. "Built by the community. To serve our community." is a slogan and message on the other side of the new signage.
Portsmouth Square Garage is located in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown and serves as the largest public garage for both the community members and visitors coming to Chinatown.

The garage marked the 60th anniversary in 2022 and has held year-long celebrations including unveiling the new signage to welcome the visitors to Chinatown with a fresh look.
Jaynry Mak, Chair of Board of Directors, announced in the unveiling ceremony that their Community Engagement Fund would be renamed after Nancy Lim, a long serving board member of the garage for over 20 years.
Lim is a leader and childcare expert in Chinatown for decades. She retires from the garage board starting July. Mak recognized Lim's contribution and commitment to the community.
